ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN

Course Description:
Students will be applying the CAD drafting skills acquired in the CAD/Technical Drawing class as they are introduced to the Architectural Design process. Through the design of a residence for a specific building site that meets the requirements of a virtual client, they will become acquainted with the concept of Sustainable Design, which stresses the responsible and efficient use of natural resources.
In depth studies of the previously drafted F10 House, along with a number of significant residences in the history of architecture as well as their own homes, will acquaint students with the creative ways architects from around the world, in different time periods, have solved the challenges of designing houses.
Site Plans, Floor Plans, Elevations and Sections will be developed using AutoCad and later in the semester, as students gain skills with the Revit 3D modeling software, they will produce more sophisticated renderings of their designs.
Final grades will be calculated as follows:
-Projects 50%
-Quizzes 30%
-Conduct and Effort 20%
